November is Art Every Day Month

For a few years now I’ve been participating in Art Every Day Month, which is ably and creatively hosted by Leah Piken Kolidas at Creative Every Day. It’s a challenge to us creative types to enjoy being accountable to something other than ourselves, for a change, in a  supportive and wholesome way. There’s no pressure, only a band of artists and nearly-artists and trying-to-be-artists and not-really-believing-I’m-an-artist Artists…. in other words it’s open to all of us wherever we are on our journey.

I’m looking forward to the commitment, though I won’t be feeling bound or constrained by it, and I certainly won’t be feeling any guilt if I don’t manage to post anything. As we say in yoga, we form an intention, and lean towards it, and that’s OK. If we don’t make it to the full Baddha Utthita Parsvakonasana (bound extended side angle pose!) that’s OK, we are exactly where we need to be today.

Happy November, and Happy Creating! x

      Thank you masha!

  1. That message…form an intention and lean towards it rally struck home with me. Thank you!

Isn;t it great Maron? I think of it often, in all sorts of situations. I don;t think it lets you off the hook, and there is still an expection that we will try our best, but allows us to have flexibility in our goals without beating ourselves up all the time :)

I admire the ways that you have stated your goals. Since returning from Ireland – I have been busy with life and playing catch up. The last few days I have been studying the books and resources centered around art. Last Wednesday when we met to make your beautiful book, we laughed and laughed while painting – art really does make us happier. Thanks

That’s so good to hear Sally. Laughter is the best tonic , second only to art, and if you can combine the two, well you’re made!
