Painty, Grungy October Journal

Finishing things, I’m quite good at. Starting- not so much 😉

After a summer of hard work professionally and domestically, and procrastinating with getting back into my art space (physically and emotionally) I finally cracked the ‘I just can’t start’ nut and accepted that it was time to get back to the paint and glue and get making, and this is the journal I made towards the end of the month and finished today. It’s very, well, painty, and quite grungy in a colourful way. I enjoyed getting messy again and noted in the journal some of the thoughts that have struck me this month, sometimes quite sad and frustrated, sometimes poignant and positive and philosophical, always random. I do wonder if I look back on this journal in a few years journal I’ll wonder what on earth I was thinking, but I think I’ll get a sense of where my head was at.

What shall I make for my November journal? Watch this space :)

Haha! You’re right, I don’t know why I thought I should apologise for that 😉 Thanks for visiting Maron :)

  2. Random is good. When you think about it, being spontaneous isn’t all that easy. There’s a wonderful sense of freedom in just letting go and being prepared to seem like you are ‘making a mess’ in order to create your vision. Your October journal is so colourful, and looks like something that happens when you give yourself that freedom to express yourself, rather than trying to please some invisible teacher who will mark you out of 10. I feel too often I’m still creating with that teacher lurking at my shoulder. This is a great reminder to keep it playful. Can’t wait to see what comes out of your November!

You’re right- I have to work really hard at being spontaneous 😉 You’re right, I did this journal for me only, and it shows, I think. It’s quite un self conscious! Thanks Indigo x
